St Winefride’s Catholic Church is in Latimer Road, South Wimbledon at the Junction of the Broadway and Merton Road. The priest′s house is next to it in Latimer Road. The Parish hall is in Bridges Road, opposite the main door of the Church.
The hall is located in Bridges Road and is used by a number of parish groups. At the moment we are not able to take bookings for one-off events. If you would like to discuss a recurring booking, please ring the parish number.
The River Wandle, the tramline, the railway line, Gap Road and Plough Lane.
Easter Mass Times
Thursday 8pm
Before mass on Thursday (at 8pm) the tabernacle is empty, and the sanctuary lamp extinguished as the Body of Christ is no longer present in the Church. After mass the Body of Christ is brought to the lady chapel, the Altar of repose. Hosts consecrated at the mass are used on Good Friday.
Good Friday Midday
The Midday 12 O’clock service is performed by the schoolchildren of the parish; which includes the stations of the cross, the Bidding prayers and the distribution of Communion. It is a briefer version of the later service.
Good Friday 3pm
The 3 pm service is the Commemoration of the passion: The reading of the Gospel of John, the bidding prayers, the Veneration of the Cross and the distribution of Communion. There is a collection for the Holy Places as the whole Church contributes to their upkeep to enable visitors to see and appreciate the places in the life death and Resurrection of Jesus.
Good Friday 7pm
There will be Stations of the Cross at 7. Volunteer readers are welcome to take part.
Easter Saturday 9pm
The VIGIL MASS of the Resurrection takes place at nightfall (9 pm) on Saturday night with the lighting of the Easter candle, the old and new testament readings of God’s actions, the blessing of water and reminder of our baptism and the celebration of the Body and Blood of Christ made present.
